Trout/Salmon / 2011 Mikes Eyeflies
« on: January 26, 2011, 01:12:46 PM »
Here is a look at the new 2011 offerings from Mike Eyeflies.  Some really nice looking stuff there that I cant wait to try out next year!  The #3 "UV Double Blue Eye Ghost" was our best fly by far last year along with the #2 "Blue Eye Pearl" and the #10 "Green Eye Alewife".  The #16 "Yellow Eye" was my best fly for Lakers on Superior last season, mostly behind a 10" White Spin Doctor or a 12" Glow John King Flasher.

I am very excited to get that #26 in the water next year!  Something tells me its gonna be a Killer!  wink()

Boat and Tackle Setups / Hook Em' Pads
« on: January 07, 2011, 09:36:26 AM »
I have had a few people ask where to get these so I figured I would just post it up.  They are very nice and really help organize the spoons/flys in a way that makes them easy to find quickly and safely.

Boat and Tackle Setups / 12 Volt Dimmer??
« on: December 30, 2010, 04:11:38 PM »
I am in the middle of tearing the whole dash and instument panel out of my boat.  I am making a new dash and panel to house the new gauges, flo-scans, as well as my radar screen, and adding some new Teak trim to the helm area.

My question is......  The factory dash had a tinted sunsheild that covered the gauges which I plan to remove when doing the new dash.  The thing is, the gauges were almost to bright at night last season with the tinted cover in place.  Once I remove the cover, they will be way to bright for safe nightime navigation.  It just kills your nightvision!

Does anyone have any experience with some kind of 12v dimmer for this purpose?  I have done some looking on-line but there are tons of different kinds of 12v dimmers ranging from $20 to $300.  The $20 option sound a lot better to me!  Dash lighting is a pretty low amp draw, so I wouldnt think I need anything to beefy??

Any help, ideas, or suggestions for this project are welcome!  Thanks guys     I'll be in the boat if ya need me  :drunk:

« on: December 16, 2010, 02:53:06 PM »
For anyone looking for some "Fish Porn" during these cold winter months, I finished my new Photo Gallery on my website and have all my 2010 pics on there as well!  http://www.daybreakfish.com/gallery.php

Most of these pics have been scatterd through some threads I posted on UPAngler already, so many of them you may have seen on here.

Just something to get ya thinking about next season......a little to early!  God knows I am!  Actually spent the night in the Tiara cabin last night!  80 degrees, Captain n Coke, Jimmy Buffet on the radio......Ahhhh   Almost like July.....with no water slapping the hull!  wink()

Trout/Salmon / Fair Chase Fishing!
« on: December 01, 2010, 01:14:54 PM »
With the new "Fair Chase" craze goin around, I am curious about how this will affect everyones fishing habbits??

Sounds like baiting is frowned upon, so no more herring, sucker, alewife, ect. for meat rigs and such. No more leaches, nightcrawlers, or cheetos!  And I think a spoon would fall into the catagory of a "attractant" as well, so no more spoons.... You can still use the treble hook, just no spoon in front of it.  Definatly no more flasher/fly stuff as that is immitating something, and we dont want to intentionally mislead the fish, as that wouldnt be "Fair"!  Electronics.....definatly NOT fair!  And now that I am thinking about it, you really shouldnt be fishing from a boat either!  Thats kinda like chasing down a deer on a 4-wheeler isnt it, and that aint fair either!

So its sounds like you'll be fishing from shore this summer, with a line with just a hook on it!  No wait....  Actually to be fair, you should probably be in the water with the fish, because thats where he lives.  A "Top Fair Chase Predator" would never want to hunt an animal from outside of its natural habitat!

Get your fins and snorkel ready and head to the bubbler!

Man its gonna be a long winter!

ps...  If you were offended by the above statment...RELAX wink()

Hunting / Trapping / T/C Muzzleloader Question
« on: November 29, 2010, 10:01:51 AM »
For you guys familiar with the T/C stuff....

I have a Encore Pro Hunter with a few rifle barrels.  I am looking at getting the .50 cal Muzzleloader barrel for it.  With the barrel and the new fore end I am looking at about 400 bucks for the T/C set-up.  I had a friend mention checking out the "Bergera" (sp?) Barrels for the T/C.  I did some looking and see that they are actually rated better than the T/C barrel, but cost about 125 dollars less?  Something dosent seem right there??

Anybody with any experience with these barrels?  Should I just stick with the T/C set-up?

Any info is appreciated.
