Title: 2018 fish photo contest
Post by: THE BAIT SHOP GUY on January 01, 2018, 10:35:35 AM
WooHoo - first post on UPA in 2018! Happy new Year, everyone!

Time for Bay View Bait and Tackles annual winter fish photo contest. There are just a few simple rules.

All fish must be legally caught on hook and line, from Upper Peninsula waters.

No age limit. If you can catch and hold a fish, you can enter your photo. One entry per person, per day. Photos must have the anglers face in the picture. Photos showing fish on the ice next to a boot or can will be shared, but not entered into the contest, (we want to see happy anglers with their catch!)

Contest week will run Thursday thru Wednesday. Photo entries must be from the current contest week. Thursday morning, a name will be drawn at random from that weeks entries. The winner will get a $20 gift certificate to the baitshop. We will allow entries from January 1st and 2nd into the first weeks contest. First drawing will be held on January 11th.

Photos can be emailed to baitshop2@chartermi.net, sent in a personal message on this site, or stop by the shop with your catch and we'll take a picture for you.

LETS SEE SOME FISH PICTURES!

Thanks Al - right back at ya.

Things have been very busy at the shop the past few days, so my apologies for the late replies and posting of pics. Anyway, there were LOTS of good reports from LBDN today, so I expect to get a bunch more in the coming days. I'll get to them as soon as I can.

Bob caught a 29 inch walleye on the Menominee River. An absolute  MONSTER for an inland fish!

Robert landed a 37 1/2 inch pike off Gladstone on a tip-up. Healthy fish!

Adam sent in a picture of his kids. His email read - My son Logan and daughter Norah caught a few nice perch in the north end of the little bay this morning on the wigglers ya sold me.   Thanks Chris! Glad to help, guys!

Quinn caught a nice walleye off of Kipling.

Thanks for sharing, everybody!

Scott caught a nice mixed bag of perch and a walleye. Then he noticed something odd about his "walleye."

Turned out it was a sauger! Kind of a rare fish for Little Bay de Noc. Told him I can count the number I've seen since 1989 on one hand!

Kind of neat in my book.

Zach sent in these pics and report -

"Caught about a 100 perch Tuesday. Started fishing around 10am and stopped at 430pm. Most on wigglers and a tungsten jig. Only caught about 5 on a minnow under a slip bobber in  Kipling. Kept 35 perch all between 8 and 131/2 inches."

Lot of good pictures and reports from this past weekend, despite the nasty post frontal conditions!

Mike sent in a pic of Alec and Zia. He said - "Hi Chris. My Granddaughter Zia got a few perch Saturday with this 9 incher being the biggest. Uncle Alec gave her a little training. You'll have to ask Alec if that's his doll on the bench."

Mike F. sent in a picture of his daughter with some nice perch she caught. His email read - "Hello Chris. Here is Caroline with her 2 biggest perch from Saturday.  We ended up with 16 keepers."

Andrew caught 27 and 30 1/2 inch walleyes this weekend. His friend, Matt, got a 27 inch walleye and a 40 inch pike!
