Lake Michigan / Confirmed Net along Big Summer
« on: July 02, 2017, 11:45:52 PM »
Got a confirmation from the crew on board that they ran into a net along big summer in Fairport Sunday morning. They saw the net on the graph pulled the boat down woth water coming in from seas behind. Clipped off riggers and 2 dipsy rigs 17 ft boat that has been fishing there for the past 20 + years. So watch your stuff they fished that same water same track lines several times this year including Saturday. Yikes it was marked but its wide they claim another boat said they ended up close enough to see a bouy underwater. Be carefull all.

Just watching and officer stated it is fisherman responsibility to be able to keep track of the fish they keep and put in a livewell (assume cooler also) when multiple fisher people are on the same boat. He said some people use different colored zip ties etc..anybody separate their fish for that purpose of identification?

Off Topic / 4 stroke replacement
« on: August 01, 2016, 01:41:04 PM »
So a question for folks who are mote familiar. I jave the 19 ft sea nymph Striper center console powered by a 115 hp johnson 2 stroke. What are opinions on the new 4 strokes? If i were to consider a brand new 115hp Mercury 4 stroke would i be losing alot of performance? Would a personbe better served by going up in hp keeping in mind max hp for the boat is 140.
Any info in regards to 4 syroke would be appreciated. My boat would run set for fishing at about 36 mph loaded. I rarely ran that fast dut to fuel consumption. It had great hole shot planed out quickly and would stay on plane trimmed out at 19-23 mph very well.

My Mom would like to put a newer outboard on her pontoon this summer. Something 25-40 hp with power trim and tilt. No junk but not brand new either. Hopefully with controls and must be a longshaft. If anybody comes across something or knows of one at a dealership please keep us in mind and send a message. Maybe 2-3k range.??

Is anybody using this mapping program in their GPS. I am considering buying it to download into my hand held unit. So I was wondrring if anybody has first hand experience with it? The quality and level of detail and if they are happy with the product.

Walleye / LBDNC slot limit extended South to Bark River
« on: December 28, 2015, 04:15:19 PM »
So reading regs it would appear the 1 walleye over 23" line has been extended South from the mouth of the Ford to the mouth of the Bark. It appears this went into affect at press release in October. That will leave many miles of water off limits,as most boats come from Escanaba or the Ford. Fishing outside this line will be very difficult due to limited launching to the South. I understand the pressure on the resource but I am sure lots of anglers will wind up killing big fish at release time or be ticketed fishing outside the line but coming back to dock. Oh well protect the walleye from the few anglers that target them but don't protect white tails that are pressured by many more people.
