« on: August 03, 2015, 08:44:45 AM »
Around Marquette. I am starting to look now for ideas on storing my boat and the wife's camper this winter. I do not want to stuff my boat in my shop again. They are both 13.6 high. Boat needs 33 feet, camper 43. Thanks.

Lake Superior / Tough day on the big pond yesterday.

Large ferry, small boat, swimmer, paddle boater, all finding out that lake can be tough.
I just have to keep all that in my mind, in hopes of never losing respect for the power of the Great Lakes.

Boat and Tackle Setups / Anyone with a tiltbed bandsaw?

That can cut my transducer fairing at 22 degs? Only thing I have is a table saw. And I am too much of a coward to get my fingers that close to a table saw.

Lake Superior / Speaking of the fall SSFA tourney
« on: January 12, 2015, 10:44:03 AM »
When I fished Sturgeon Bay last year. On the Friday before the tourney they had a women's/kids tourney. It was very basic. http://www.tournamenttrail.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/sturgeon-bay-ladies-kids.pdf
Basically weigh your 5 best fish. One first place trophy, all other kids got a second place trophy.
I am willing,(Crossroads Truck Repair) to put up $1000. Provided there is enough interest. And there are people willing to help out the SSFA, and the SSFA is willing to except the job. I would like to see someone step up with trophies for the kids. Rules a little more clear than theirs, as far as who can touch rods and net fish. I do not care how the rules are, as long as they are clear.
My wife and kids loved it. But I know most have to work. So I am concerned Friday would be a deal breaker for too many.
Thank you fishing gods for the second place trophies. All morning Marshall kept telling me how bad he wanted one. And we were not doing all that good.
So I am willing to put some cash in, as long as the rest of the criteria is met. I will throw it out there and see if you all run with it.

Classifieds/Buy/Sell / Raymarine stuff
« on: October 03, 2014, 07:35:47 AM »
1st is a brand new in the box C-140W. With a slightly used DSM-300G sonar box. The C-140 wide has a built in GPS. So all you would need to get is a transducer to have a working chart plotter and fish finder. The DSM was sent in to Raymarine for a check up and all the latest software installed. $1500.

2nd set up I have to sell. Used, E-120. With 24" radar dome, and DSM-300 sonar box. It also has a shoot through hull transducer, unsure of the model. Also has an external GPS receiver antenna. Since it is in the boat, you can try it all out. I have had it out several times with no issues. $1500 for that set up as well.

Both packages will include a Navionics card.

Trout/Salmon / On line charts
« on: July 23, 2014, 08:44:46 AM »
This may have been brought up here before. I have a weak memory. But Navionics provides us with free on line charts.
You can click on the symbol on lower right to measure distance. Click on the symbol at lower left to see fishing contour lines. You do have to be zoomed in to get those lines. I find it most useful when I am going to a place I have never been to before. I also like Google Earth to get a view of the marina, campground, and such. If you take the water away in Google Earth, it shows an interesting view of the lake bottom.
I have yet to find a program to show me the fish though.

Lake Michigan / Anyone know Sturgeon Bay WI area?
« on: April 28, 2014, 06:32:18 AM »
We are thinking about staying there a week. Seeing what it is like to fish with the big dogs in a tourney.
Any info on campgrounds and things to do? I know what I would be doing, but things for the families.
