Lake Superior / Huron River Mouth
« on: August 09, 2017, 06:59:26 PM »
I will be going on a camping trip made possible by Courage Incorporated, they help disabled veterans and others to experience trips like this. We will camping at the Huron River Mouth. I am a client and a volunteer so I will be taking my 14' boat to help. I need some advice on how to prepare, what can be caught in the river? What tackle might I need? If the weather is good we will go out on the big lake for some trolling, I already have that covered. Thanks in advance.

I shot a buck this morning. 4 point. My first buck, I have been hunting for years, have taken a few does. It feels good to finally get a buck. The Hornady slug dropped him on the spot. I thanked the deer for giving his life so I can have food.

Off Topic / USMC band or SSFA ?
« on: April 16, 2011, 05:20:10 PM »
I missed the SSFA meeting roll(), I went to see the Marine Corps band that night ;D. It was a hard choice. The tie breaker was that I would have a date with my wife at the USMC concert. Now, take it easy on me grin(), I know I am in for some teasing :kick: but what would you have done? What are the items discussed that I should know about?

Went out on Lake Superior today with a friend and when we got back to the dock we were told that two people lost their lives this morning while they were fishing out by the white rocks. My sympathy to all family and friends.

Lake Superior / Tourny fun?
« on: May 16, 2010, 08:10:50 AM »
Alright, you guys told me that tournies were fun. Within ten minutes I broke my sunglasses , dropped a planer board over  and while turning around to retrieve it a line wrapped in the prop  then I stepped on the lost and found planer and broke it  and as I was on the swim platform getting the line out of the prop I slipped  then pulled on the line and my rod went over  And I caught zero fish, there is nothing heavier than an empty cooler. I could have stayed home and hit myself in the head with stick, would have been more enjoyable. But I am addicted now, can't wait for the next tournament, I'll be there , it's either that or stay and hit myself in the head with a stick. You HAVE to LOVE it

Boat and Tackle Setups / anchor, line
« on: May 08, 2010, 08:31:01 AM »
What is a good length of anchor line to have on hand? Captain John of Daybreak Charters said it is a good idea to have a sea anchor on hand also, in case it is too deep for the anchor. I was planning on a Chene anchor and eventually a winch, or maybe a wench ;D
