Lake Superior / Gitch Kings
« on: July 09, 2014, 11:05:47 AM »
Sorry for the late report.  Been busy with the 4th and prepping for the Hodag Country Fest.

Ended up hitting the Gitch in search of some kings the last weekend of June.  Fished Friday PM, Saturday AM and Saturday PM.  Slept in Sunday after a late night of enjoying beverages.  Total we ended the weekend 20 for 29, 8 for 10 Friday, 6 for 9 Sat AM, and 6 for 10 Sat PM.  17 kings, 1 coho, 1 laker, and 1 steelie.  Most kings averaged 4-8lb with a couple around 10lbs.  A mixture of flasher/flies and spoons took all the fish, with Glow Jorge - Finn Spoon and #11 Blue Green Eye Alewife - Mikes Eye Fly taking quite a few fish.  All in all a great weekend with even better weather.

Lake Superior / Gitch Kings III

Since fishing was still a little slow down south me and my crew figured we'd still like to get out for a little fishing.  Had a couple guys on the boat that don't get to fish much so I really wanted to get them some fish.  Fished Saturday PM and Sunday Am and had some great luck.  Saturday were were 8 for 10, Sunday we were 5 for 6.  All but one were kings largest going 9lbs.  There were a ton of smiles going around.  A mixture of spoons (Finn's, Stingers & Shines) and Flies (Mikes Eyeflies, Bad Habit and Opti Flies) worked well.   :thmb:

Lake Michigan / Fairport July 29th-31st
« on: August 03, 2011, 11:08:12 AM »
Fishing seems to have picked up.  Ended up going 17 for 22 and one dandy which weighed 25.2lbs on Peterson's scale.   Best fishing for us was south of Poverty.  Braided Slides and Wire Divers took the majority of fish.  Most boats we talked to were taking 3 to 6 fish per outting with a few getting more.Hope the full moon doesn't screw us for Dick's Tourney.

Off Topic / Voltage Drop
« on: March 31, 2011, 10:53:54 AM »
Have any of you guys experienced a huge drop in voltage when transmitting on your marine radio?  I'm thinking I must have a bad ground or something?  The radio I'm using is a Midland Regatta 2 (VHF/FM 25/1 Watt).

Boat and Tackle Setups / Navionics or LakeMaster?
« on: January 06, 2011, 03:48:05 PM »
I'm looking for a chip for my gps that has good coverage on Lake Superior as well as Lake Michigan.  I've looked at the LakeMaster Pro-Michigan which has Lake Michigan but it doesn't list Lake Superior.  I really only need the southern part of Superior and Northern end of Michigan.

What would be the best bang for my buck?

Lake Superior / 2 Lost Braided Slide Divers Rigs....
« on: July 12, 2010, 08:03:34 AM »
Hey guys, fished Keweenaw Bay Saturday AM....ended up going 6 for 7.  4 nice coho and 2 lakers.  When I got home I noticed my Braided Slide Diver rigs were GONE.  Must have flown out of the boat somewhere between Lanse and Crystal Falls.  Drove back to Lanse to look for them with no luck.  I know it's a long shot, but if someone knows of anyone that found a couple Slide Diver Rigs between Lanse and Crystal Falls call Nate at 906-284-2444 or 906-875-3672.

Thanks,
Nate

Boat and Tackle Setups / Dried Out Canvas Enclosure
« on: March 17, 2010, 10:43:36 PM »
My vinyl/canvas boat enclosure is getting a little dried out, mostly just the top.  Is there anything out there that would restore the vinyl?  Anything that would soften it?  I'm hoping I can get a couple more years out of it.

Lake Superior / Keweenaw Bay 6/20
« on: June 22, 2009, 12:51:14 PM »
Had some luck Saturday morning going 5 for 6.  2 kings, 1 laker and 1 coho.  Released one small laker and lost a nice coho at the back of the boat.  3 of the 6 came on a Braided Slide Diver with a monkey puke mag.  What a great morning to be on the water.  On our way home heading south on 41 we got to see a cow moose and her calf.  All in all a great trip North.

Had to get one more trip in before the the new addition to the family arrives.  My wife and I need to be at Dickinson County Hospital tomorrow (6/23) morning to be induced and wait for our son to be born.  My new little fishing partner. grin()

I also threw in a couple pics of our last weekend in May on the Bay.  It's been a pretty good spring for me on the bay.

Hope to be in Fairport the week before the 4th.

Heading down to Fairport the end of this week.  This will be my first time down that way and I was hoping to get some info.  Where to stay, where to dump the boat in, etc.....  Any info would be great.

Thanks,
