Registration is open for the 2017 Marquette Bay Classic Fall Fishing Tournament.  We are again partnering with Marquette Rotary West to bring a family friendly weekend full of fishing and fun.  Thanks to Crossroads Truck Repair for again making the Women and Children's event possible on Friday, August 25th followed by the captains meeting that evening at the Marquette Elks Lodge and The Main Event on Saturday morning.

New this year are two additional $500 payouts for Heaviest Steelhead and Heaviest Brown Trout in addition to our regular payout of over $11,000 in cash and prizes bringing the total payout to over $12,000 in cash and prizes!

To be considered for the $500 payouts in each of those new categories, the winning Brown and Steelhead must be a fish that is included in either a live or release 6 fish count in the trout category.

Registration forms will be mailed shortly, attached, and also available on the SSFA Facebook Page.

The Fall Tournament Committee met tonight and things are shaping up for another great tournament.

New this year is the addition of a Women and Children's Fishing tournament on the Friday morning prior to the main event.  First place prize has been sponsored by Crossroads Truck Repair in the amount of $1,000 and will be determined by the heaviest 3 fish combined weight.  No extra entry fee is required other than your entry to the main tournament on Saturday.

We hope to encourage fisherman to bring family and friends to Marquette to enjoy the Harbor Fest activities while getting out on the water.

Anyone can captain the boat, but women and children must reel in the fish.  Children are considered those 16 years old and under.  All kids will receive a prize and women will receive a t-shirt for participating.

No registration will be required the morning of the Friday tournament if you are preregistered.  Otherwise, registration will be at the Lower Harbor fish cleaning station from 7-10am on Friday, August 28th.  Fishing will be from 8am-3pm with an on your honor start.  The registration brochure will be posted soon.

Lake Superior / Thank You
« on: October 17, 2014, 08:29:11 AM »
Thank you "fishermen" for so diligently marking your net you placed between the Lower Harbor breakwall lighthouse and the mouth of the Carp.  Because of of your single home built "flag" I was able to see one end of your net when I was nearly on top of it.  I appreciate the effort.

Lake Superior / Where's the bite?
« on: September 24, 2014, 12:07:09 PM »
I've been seeing mounds of fish on the graph in the MQT harbors for almost a month now, but they are obviously not interested in what I'm presenting.  Is it just me or are they really picky this year?  What gives?

Lake Huron / Open Seat out of Mackinaw/St Ignace this Coming Week
« on: August 01, 2014, 04:31:17 PM »
We're taking a family camping vacation this coming week (Sunday-Friday) in Mackinaw City.  It's killing me that the boat will be sitting in the marina for a week straight with no attention.  My ideal vacation would be sleeping on the boat in Fairport on Lake Michigan chasin' silver, but this is a decent second.  That's hard to do with the family.  I can't tow a boat and a camper so I miss out.  Wondering if anyone has a spot open anytime this week out of somewhere close to Mackinaw City that I can fill in.  I'd love the chance to get out.  I'll help with gas/beer whatever.  I'm not expecting a freebie but not willing to pay full charter rates for just me.

Classifieds/Buy/Sell / Pair Big Jon Manual Riggers
« on: May 28, 2014, 12:16:55 AM »
Two Big Jon Manual Riggers.  Great condition.  Both have the fiberglass booms/whips, which are great for bouncing bottom.  I cut one back last year to 3.5 ft and th other is 4 ft.  They could be replaced with aluminum booms from BJ if you wanted to but I actually like the play in the fiberglassm. Both have booms that swivel up for storage/easy rigging.  200 ft of cable. Fixed mounting brackets included, but no rod holders. $225 obo for the pair.
