You'll be able to pick up a few more coho that time of year. The menominee fishing really picks up later in the year. Not a lot of pier activity that time of year but there are fish around. Good luck!

Hunting / Trapping / Re: coyotes with dogs

I run coyotes with dogs almost every weekend in the winter and it's a blast. I know the predator hunt in Newberry allows hunting with hounds. I don't shoot many it's more to help my young bear dogs with trailing and keeping them in shape.

I went to MTU and fished Chassel a lot for pike and walleye. For perch Gratiot was very good a few times. K-Bay was always my favorite though.

I have a yr old 10" Eskimo auger I'd be willing to trade the bit on. How old is your auger and what kind of shape are the blades in?

Guys mainly troll out there but you can have good success at time jigging as well.

I was there Thursday all day and headed back again Saturday with the nephew. It is a hell of a set up down there. My dad was funny he said I never knew there was this many trapping supply places in the country!

We have always had the tournament this same weekend except for the first year. I would imagine it will stay the same but I'm not really involved in the planning anymore. The best way to sign up is got to the Grand Marais chamber website or contact Aleta Hubbard at 906-494-2324. Sure would be nice to get back to 25-30 boats. It's $150 per boat entry fee. The chamber of commerce ponies up the $4000 for first place and I'm worried if we don't get back up around 25-30 that may go away but who knows.

I'll try and get the results posted tomorrow. I know that Chris weighed three fish for 68.8lbs on day one. There were 17 boats that entered the tourney.

Lol. Spanked doesn't even begin to explain it Sniper! That three fish box was by far the best one we've weighed in a day. Weather wasn't great this weekend but it was a good time.
