I agree Seawolf !  As  charter captains should  keep only the smaller eaters

A big spawner was a " small eater" at one time too. Just sayin' ...   ;D

Tournament Trail North / 2018 TTN/KOTN
« on: August 30, 2017, 09:54:48 AM »
As each year goes in the books we learn new things to make the next year better. That being said as of now there is a couple major changes.

-No more  KOTN Trout. As much as some people are going to be disappointed there simply isn't enough interest or boats competing in most events to keep it competitive. We were going to axe it for this year but decided to give it one more shot but this year is the final year.

2. SSFA Fall classic finishing order will be  determined by TOTAL scorable weight.  So, whether you fish dead Salmon or live your total team weight will go in a spreadsheet and the finishing order will be determined by that. There was a big difference between live and dead weight this year so this should eliminate that and make it the same format we fish throughout the year. So, to be clear you can fish live or dead but remember for TTN purposes you are all on the same playing field.

-Escanaba will be added to the trail.

-Manistique will be 2 seperate scores with your  3 biggest fish per day.

- A September TTN shootout is in the works for 2018. (3 fish, 20 points per fish, one must be a salmon.)

Very nice !!  Nice REPORT,. Much better than the POINTS reports we get on here after most tourneys,  which mean absolutely nothing to the average guy.

Hmmm, the only other results that are posted on here that are POINTS are  the TTN results which are based off of POINTS which mean absolutely everything to the guys that FISHED it...

More importantly, thank you SSFA and the volunteers for putting on a fun weekend. The ladies had a blast again on Friday and we had a blast Saturday. Couldn't ask for better weather!

There was a 37.75 caught off the betsie yesterday.  I know of 6 over 30 caught on the Michigan side in the past couple weeks.

Tournament Trail North / 2018 Manistique change
« on: August 04, 2017, 12:27:30 PM »
As most know we based the points of the final results of the 333 of TTN points. Next year there will be a change to award teams that are in the TTN and fishing both days.

Like Munising, Manistique will count as 2 days with your biggest 3 fish per day being weighed. The 333 will still be in place but TTN results will be based off day 1 and day 2 totals. Your 3 fish can consist of trout or salmon.

Escanaba will be the same, day 1 and day 2 scores/weights.

Anything new this year for the Manistique Derby?  I have heard that the 333 format has changed to weigh three fish per day instead of three fish for both days.

No sir, the 333 is 3 fish for the 2 days.

It all boils down to simplicity. I cant make it to every event and cant even plan to fish until the fridays before most events so the way it is set up now works good as the only thing I need is the finishing order and then I can figure points from there. Scotty that runs the TT uses the TT $$ to make a living and travels to every event with scales and everything. I dont make a dime off TTN and just do it for guys to have fun. Working 70-80hrs a week puts a damper on the things we could do with the TTN but nobody then again nobody has time. So, unless a bunch of guys want to pony up with their time, buy a scale and trailer about the only option we have is the way it is set up now with a shootout at the end for everyone that made it in the top 10. The TTN champ will still be the points leader.
