Gun Talk / 2014 GLSRC Ironman Shoot
« on: April 18, 2014, 07:19:40 AM »
This will be our 3rd year holding this event.  Lewis class payout.  Sporting Clays, 5 Stand, Skeet and Trap.  I have attached the flyer with all the information.  Let me know if you have any questions.  Thanks

Thanks for the info.  Your report pretty much matches up to what I have been reading online.  Still can't wait to go and if nothing else have a week off of work!

That sucks!  I am heading to Storla SD on Saturday.  Have they been doing any more combining?  I heard there was still a lot of corn standing.

If you don't reload try HSM ammo.  They offer a lot of different load and bullet combinations.  Before I got into reloading I would shoot there ammo and it shot great.  Find out what your barrel twist is and match your bullet weight to that. On the bullet manufacturers web sites they will have info on what twist they recommend for the different bullets.  From my experience the BT or VMAX bullets are not fur friendly but they sure do put a coyote down fast.  I think in factory ammo the VMAX are a little better because the ogive of the bullet is more towards the tip than the BT, getting it closer to the rifling and in most cases more accurate.  I attached a picture of a target that I shot with a some HSM ammo.  These were 52 grain VMAX out of my swift.  The other picture is a Porky shot with 55 grain BT at just over 100 yards.  This is with the swift also with a velocity of 3800 fps.  I don't have a picture of any of the coyotes I have shot with the BT but I have found that they do a lot of damage to the fur when/if they exit out of the swift or .223 rem.  I am a big fan of both bullets and have 1000s of them on my bench but just wanted you to know they aren't always the fur friendliest bullets.

This is our second annual shoot.  This is a Lewis Class shoot(like flights in a golf tournament) so all shooters have a chance to place in their class.  We shoot on Sundays at noon if anyone wants to shoot a warm up round.  We will be changing the sporting clays course and the Five Stand up so no one has an advantage.  Food will be available.  If anyone has any questions they can call the club at 786-2911, pm me or just post the question.  Thanks

I have one on my 20hp honda.  I works great.  I've had it since 2010 and no problems.

I appreciate the offer but I already got that caliber covered with the rifles I have.   I am up for other possible gun trades though.

Thanks Brad.  These 101's are great guns.  They have the same lock up system as the berettas.  The only reason I am selling is I don't shoot it and it sits in the gun safe.
