Boat and Tackle Setups / New trolling motor coming together
« on: April 25, 2014, 03:01:56 PM »
Still planning to install next year. I want to go to a closed cooling system. No lake water through my new block.
383, all forged rotating parts, full roller. Very wimpy compared to what I use to build. But should handle 2.5 MPH fine.

Off Topic / Wolf hunt on the ballot
« on: March 13, 2014, 11:35:42 AM »
It is not so much a matter of believing in the wolf hunt or not. But seems to me this could set a new standard. Could open the door for other hunting having to pass a vote. Maybe fishing as well. I am not saying it is going to happen. Just that it opens a new door to the anti-hunters.
I do not believe for a moment deer hunting would automatically pass a state wide vote. Much like dove hunting did not make it.
Anties start going through the big cities, showing pictures of cavemen beating fawns with bloody clubs, asking for a no vote on deer hunting.
But of course, deer hunters have one thing to their advantage. The power of the mighty dollar. A lot of money is spent during deer hunting season.
So this would leave me to believe. Which particular animal that gets to a state wide vote, is all dependent on the amount of money that is spent on hunting that particular animal.
Who spends more money? Walleye or salmon/trout fishermen?

Product Reviews / New Daiwa Sealine
« on: February 18, 2014, 11:14:05 AM »
May be old news to the rest of you. But I see Daiwa sealines are changed. The 57 series being 6.1 to 1 ratio. line counter and without. Another option for lead and copper, with some speed. $110 at Cabelas for 57 series.

Jan 1. 15 dollar min wage. I think it would have a better chance on a larger scale. Right now it appears to be good news to near by towns/businesses. I am betting the folks who are now making 15 dollars an hour go to a different town to shop.
But, I will wait and watch. Maybe we all learn some thing. Seattle next on the list. That will be a good testing ground.

Off Topic / Still laughing at tin foil?

Now that there has been two people sent to DC by some kind of electro magnetic wave signals to the brain.
Better stock up on the foil now. Before it becomes as rare as .22 rim fire.

Off Topic / Capitol Hill shooting incident

Waiting for the truth on this one. Betting she had no AR-15, no shot gun, no pistol. They had her boxed in, out of the car, and shot her.

Stupid people. Do they really believe the President is going to give up his legacy? Right or wrong, he knows his name will be on national health care forever.

Lake Superior / Fish cleaning grinder
« on: September 28, 2013, 06:53:56 PM »
I can get it to work for a bit by getting it spinning before turning it on. Not recommended. But it will only run for a short time before binding up. It spins easy by hand. Sounds bad when running. May have a bad bearing or something as such. I heard rumor of new grinder next year. Also heard rumor of a new station in the upper.
It is locked up now, as I seen when looking for my knife. Maybe someone looks at it on Monday.?.

Lake Superior / Lost and found
« on: September 28, 2013, 06:48:21 PM »
Lost. I left my electric knife in a black bag at the fish cleaning station.
Found, orange mossy oak camo jacket floating in the lake. And thank you for not being in it at the time.

Trout/Salmon / My first attempt to vid under water
« on: August 18, 2013, 11:30:34 AM »
My first attempt at Go Pro under water. I did not expect to get anything exciting recorded. Being it was the closest lure to the boat. 35 feet down, and 15 feet back. But with in two minutes this little guy had an interest. Chicken wing mag spoon. I am going to try a diver housing and filter for the green water for better results. Which I expected to be blue. The noise is incredible. When I get the time I will post a picture of the camera mount I made. I also have some recordings of schools of fish, and some other stuff, I will try to get to from this first attempt.
