Product Reviews / Electric knife
« on: July 17, 2013, 12:10:27 PM »
I have bought several versions and brands over the last several years. Non of which really worked out very well. Last year I bought the Berkley with the Lithium Ion battery. It is a very good knife. And the battery holds up well. But you can not buy extra or replacement batteries for it.
So this year I bought the Rapala version with the Lithium Ion battery. So far it has been very good. Battery has held up very well. And you can buy extra batteries and chargers. Plus it is cheaper than the Berkley. I noticed on Cabala's the reviews for either knife have either really good, or really bad reports. So I expect it is like anything else made in China, you either get a good one or a bad one.
So in my opinion, if you are in the market, the Rapala is worth looking at.

Lake Superior / Two future Captains
« on: July 08, 2013, 10:38:49 AM »
Marshall got out there at the crack of 9am on the 4th, off by 11:30 in order to make the parade, managed two kings and a laker.
So Saturday Marshall invites his hockey partner, Ethan, from Take Three on his boat for a trip. They managed two more kings and a laker. They did have some help from Ethan's sister.
They each also got a little experience cleaning fish.

Off Topic / Boats held hostage on base
« on: May 10, 2013, 02:04:07 PM »

They are claiming asbestos. There is no asbestos. They searched that base high and low for asbestos before it was closed. Including under ground. I worked for the company that replaced the steam pipes from the heating plant to all the buildings. Because they were not sure what they were insulated with. Turned out, non were covered with asbestos. And if they were, they were already in the safest place.
It is my belief, someone is trying to find a way to make money from this ordeal.

Classifieds/Buy/Sell / Toddler boat bed
« on: April 29, 2013, 09:50:54 AM »
I have a brand new boat bed I bought for my boy. He loves boats, but chose to sleep in a big bed. So it has never been used.
I am willing to give it away to a kid that loves boats.

Off Topic / Fighting for our rights

I find it interesting that the same lawmakers who claim to be fighting for our gun rights are the first to stand up and refuse the rights to the Boston bomber.

With a very short amount of time left. And other teams coming on strong at the right time. It appears the streak may be coming to an end. Interesting how all of a sudden the Stars are on a streak, after being sellers at the trade dead line. Also Minnesota who out bid Detroit on those two high dollar/long contract players, are only two points ahead of Detroit.
They want to build a high speed rail between Detroit and Chicago. Maybe that is to help the Detroit players and coaches make the move West.
How Detroit ever let the Bowmans get into a position to compete against them, I will never know.
Good time to empty the bandwagon of the fair weather fans. They are now on the Blackhawks bus.
This about sums up this year.

Using wiper motors. I am unsure how well these motors will work or hold up. But I retain the manual option if needed. 1/2 stainless rod, some aluminum, a couple used motors, and some time in the shop.

If you are looking for a smaller unit, this is worth looking at. CHIRP and down imaging. I have heard in the 700 dollar range, but not sure.

Off Topic / License fees
« on: February 15, 2013, 08:34:37 PM »

I have no issue with an increase. As long as it actually goes towards hunting and fishing. Unlike a certain ex gov who stole our snowmobile trail money.
License fees are about the cheapest part of hunting and fishing now.
But our Republican Governor sure likes to act like a Democrat when it comes to fees and taxes. At least hunting/fishing, police officers, and infrastructure are good investments.

Off Topic / How would you like to be a LEO in L.A. right now?
« on: February 08, 2013, 09:09:56 AM »
This guy on paper appears to not be your normal lunatic. He is educated, trained by the Navy, and the L.A. police dept. He is well armed, including a 50 cal. He claims to know how the L.A. police work. But that is not to say he is not lunatic dumb in real life. He may very well make one of those dumb lunatic mistakes, go to mom's house or what ever. But it seems the best thing that could happen is this 270 lb monster comes back to reality on his own.
This is the letter he wrote, http://www.foxnews.com/us/interactive/2013/02/07/ex-lapd-officer-christopher-jordan-dorner-manifesto/
The worst thing would be for others to join him in his cause. I can see this happening in L.A..

I watch this story regularly in hopes the 5 year old is released.
The lunatic is anti American, anti government, afraid of losing his rights, and property. Did all that building of a bunker and patrolling his property in order to protect from loss. And now he will lose it all. Either by death or prison. And after all that, no one took it from him. Not the Government, not the police. He lost it all on his own.
But he will claim he has rights given to him by the Constitution. Of the Government that he is against. He will die, or go to prison believing it was the Government that took everything from him.
All I care about is the little boy, The lunatic can judge the government set up in hell.

Trout/Salmon / Fish feel pain?
« on: January 14, 2013, 07:12:15 PM »

Of course you can find many reports that they do.
I earned a lifetime ban from an anti fishing web site once. They showed a man grabbing an apple from a tree with a hook in it. Made statements about fish feeling pain and need to be treated like humans. I said something about big humans not eating little humans. And was blocked.
