Gun Talk / Supporting American jobs
« on: October 15, 2012, 10:30:18 AM »
I have been told that 70 percent of law enforcement carries a Glock. I wonder how many Americans can be put to work if these officers were to carry made in the USA pistols? I could understand if Americans did not build pistols. More American companies than I can even remember. Some do use small parts made over the sea, and some Euro based with manufacturing done here in the states. I support peace officers and the tough and dangerous job they do. They could at least support American jobs with their tax dollar bought pistols.

Lake Superior / Loose net
« on: August 30, 2012, 08:13:30 AM »
At least that is what I believe it is. I thought we found hooks over bait. I wish I got a screen shot of the sonar when I went over it. I thought perfect, just what we are looking for, riggers started to fire, I was marking the spot already thinking how I was going to be turning around to go through that spot again. Until bad noises reached my ears. The sound of down rigger wires breaking. It seems I was marking a lot of fish, just those fish were already dead. But I am also wondering if the hooks above were not live fish feeding off the structure created by the net. Not that I had any interest in trying to find out.
So after last night, two 16 lb torpedo weights, a 12 lb Atomic torpedo weight, a depth raider probe, releases, and spoons gone. And to top that off, Ray was trying to talk on my radio, and they claim it was barley working, sounding like crap. Which hurt, since I put a good amount of time and money into that radio/antenna. Leaving me wondering if the radar is affecting it. The bottom quarter of the antenna is in the line of fire of the radar.

But anyways here is the GPS cord for where it was last night, I imagine it is moving though. The one in the edit waypoint box, the one on the top of both pictures is showing position of courser.

And this is what it looks like on the chart, waypoint 21.

Inland Lake Fishing / Petes lake in Wetmore

Appears I will be going camping there. Anything in the lake? Safe for my boat? Is it worth dragging my boat along? I have never been there before.
Thanks for any help.

The big hairy black and yellow ones. Anyone ever see them around any more? When I was a kid they were every where. Now I do not recall the last time I seen one. I see the all yellow ones stuck in grills of trucks.

Off Topic / What? Really?

So you can build a tax free gas station, and get $800,000 in grants from the Government to do so? Economic Development and Entrepreneurship grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Really? Receive near a million dollars from people you refuse to pay taxes to. If they can get grants to build a tax free Walmart we would really be set. Better yet, let China collect the taxes. How about a tax free car dealer, those taxes are killer. Americans really have to be the dumbest people to ever have walked the earth. They can pay me anytime they want to not pay taxes.

Off Topic / Coyote
« on: August 04, 2012, 08:27:36 PM »
I came across this doing a little reading on yotes. I have always had coyotes around my house. But now I have one who likes to spend a whole lot of time here. Plus it appears to have mange on it's back. Unless it has some other kind of injury. I do not kill just for the sake of killing. I prefer to live and let live. But as I was watching my 140 lb lab staring eye to eye with a 20 something pound coyote through the fence. I had to believe the wild animals meanness and hunger would win over my labs horniness. And there is the mange thing.
There is the zillion ground squirrels that need to be reduced. And all these hawks do not seem to be able to handle. But the daughter will be walking to the bus stop soon. Confused.
But any ways found this guy from Canada to be funny. He does use some swear words, if you have kids around.

Classifieds/Buy/Sell / Control cables

2 each. 23 feet long. Brand new. They are the nice TFXtreme 3300 version. They say Volvo Penta on them, but Volvo uses the universal ends like below. They are much nicer than the ones I am now about to put on my boat,(standard version) but are 3 feet too long. $50 for the pair.

300 feet of 45 lb. I believe it is braid backed. Used so little I just took the plastic off the side cover. It was bought and spooled at Gander in Marquette. The reel is in brand new condition. The line as far as I know is the same. $70.

Boat and Tackle Setups / Fire Extinguishers
« on: July 08, 2012, 02:06:12 PM »
I was boarded by our friendly Coast Guard this week. In which they were friendly and professional. And I passed inspection. But the wife told me as I was showing off the engine compartment another officer was inspecting my Fire Extinguisher and was inquiring about the todays date and appeared to be looking close for a date on the bottle. As I type this now I feel like I already asked this question once before. Any ways I went to the Coast Guard web site, and can not find where it says anything about expiration dates. Mine has a gauge on it. So does anyone know anything about an expiration date for a Fire Extinguisher?

The first thing they say is, with out reaching or pointing at it, do you have any weapons on board? Or something to that effect. So missing the first part of that statement I grab my knife out of my pocket and say just my fishing knife. Leaving them looking at each other shaking their heads. OK, now that we have the I am an idiot established, lets move on to the inspection. embarassed()

They also told me my boat looks nice going across the water from a distance. OK, thank you... I think..

Boat and Tackle Setups / Anchor windless
« on: June 29, 2012, 10:17:55 AM »
I am thinking of putting one on the bow of my boat. But do not know a thing about them. Brands, styles, all that. I would like to be able to keep an anchor on it, free fall, and be remote control from the helm, but other than that, I am lost.

Well, this is what we get for sending our jobs over there. It is easy to copy something you make everyday. I have a 90 HP Merc. Made in China. All to fill American's demands for cheaper products, with no regard to our neighbors jobs.

Great day to be out on the lake. Flat seas, sun shining. Organizers did a great job.
