Hunting / Trapping / Re: What are folks seeing for ruffed grouse...?
« on: September 22, 2016, 09:05:39 AM »
Interesting observation

• The only place I've ever heard of  90% one shot one kill for grouse is from the car window.

• A good dog is worth its weight in gold coins and when one takes the time to train with scent and decoys and wings you can really find out that there is something called 99%.

• You can tell those guys who have a dog for show or companionship because you know the dogs name by heart at the end of the hunt  (BROWNIE! BROWNIE! HERE BROWNIE! NO BROWNIE! DAMMIT BROWNIE!)

• A post from anyone on this site is a card layed down in a conversation. The wolf usually has some pretty interesting cards to lay down in the game here. That last post from you was a 3 of clubs by the way.

Walleye / Re: Inland waters cisco and their ways

I've seen that. I was kind of wishing some oscure biologist somewhere had written  some sort of detailed book that is hidden somewhere out of sight or out of print but having the ife of the cisco in detail no one would be interested in seeing....

We did the big kayak trip on the river and I noticed as you start under the bridge there were also zebra mussels.

The drunks are gonna be wishin their mothers never met their fathers when they tip the canoes pretty soon with all the sharp mussells on the trees and rocks.

Its gonna look like a scene from jaws with all the thrashin and splashin, and zebra mussells cuttin...

I'll never wear a lifejacket again...

Big night tonight.
Tampa may mix the lines.
Hopefully the lads in red stand tall.
If they can finally set their rifle sights to the goal they may be able to ground out the lightning.

Lake Superior / Possible unmarked net in Lower Harbor
« on: April 15, 2016, 09:26:51 AM »
Thursday I watched a boat putting out a net by the green bouy on the Carp River side.

I thought they might have been pulling it but last evening a boat was going forward and backward so I am going to say it is there and unmarked and laying in just in from the bouy and on an angle away from the tip of the breakwall.

Now this is an obvious navigation hazzard to those in boats that is unmarked.

isnt this considered littering like and with the new DNR CO coverage like up at the Garlic shouldnt it be pulled ?

Be careful

Lake Superior / Re: single egg

Love fishing the lower harbor breakwall, but the lower harbor, like Grand Marais is filling with sand. It seems like it is pushing through under the wooden framework. To make matters worse rocks are piled in the fishing area that is left.
I think if they oured gravel into the outside large rocks it would fall down into the spaces and stop the problem and save a lot of dredging money.

Back to single eggs—I think a single egg in lake superior is ike a dollar on the ground. Someone is going to say "hey a dollar!" and pick it up.
