You and Esther leaving is the UP's loss Frank.  Thanks for your friendship the last several years, from both me and Luke!

Best of luck in your new adventure,

Mike

I would like to APOLOGIZE to any I offended with my comments, uncalled for. Sorry Blayne for busting your Balls too,.  It was mine and my crews first Tourney and we were all like kids at Christmas, Christmas came cause we got to fish, but Santa made a fly by.  We had a blast and got to fish with my old buddy from HS after 25yrs.  Oh and we caught some,...

Yes sir, a class act.

Derek Halvorson, Crooked Arrow Taxidermy, 249-9794, has offered a few free mounts to benefit our upcoming Veterans Appreciation Day.  I haven't had a mount done, but I did ask around and he has a good reputation.

Is there a projected completion date?  We have the Veterans Fishing event scheduled for September 13th and will have to modify our plan if it's not available.

Boat and Tackle Setups / Re: Inline Planer Board Choice?

I like Church Walleye boards and paid the extra for the no-release newer line clips to replace the ones they come with.  Had a set of the larger TX44's.  Some guys like them, I didn't.

South Shore Fishing Association / Vets Fishing Day Poster
« on: July 16, 2015, 02:21:43 PM »
This poster will be going up at various locations in Marquette County.  It would be most helpful if UPA members would print a copy and put it up at your places of business and employment.  Also, we are running behind in getting adequate boat Captains for the event.  Please contact me, Mylan, or one of the other committee members to get added to the list.  So far we have the capacity for 30 Vets and we would like to get to 70.

Thank you.  Mike

Good grief.  I suppose the city leaders will find a way to blame the City Police.

Lake Michigan / Water Level

Took the camper to Fairport yesterday to set it up.  I knew the water levels were up, but had no idea just how much.  Amazing change.

Off Topic / Cormorants
« on: April 10, 2015, 12:07:37 PM »
Just received this note from a friend in Houghton.  I assume it is accurate.

Another ALERT!! The Audubon Society has filed a law suit regarding cormorant control in Michigan. Their goal is to eliminate ALL control measures, which include egg oiling and culling of adults. Cormorants have and can have devastating impacts on fish populations in many areas in Michigan. The closest is Bay de Noc.. MDNR wildlife and fisheries biologists do not want to eliminate cormorants, but rather reduce their numbers. It is a matter of resource allocation…. how much of the forage base and game fish do we allocate to cormorants.

I will personally oppose everything Audubon says and does now and in the future. Remember the mourning dove proposed hunt, where they lied in their ads? Even the Copper Country Audubon opposed the mourning dove hunt, which did not affect the UP and was based on emotion and not science. Now they want us to support them on the cell tower location on Brockway! Not me! Same deal with the cormorant control…..based on emotion and not science. Pass the word!!

FYI..… Copper Country Trout Unlimited is partnered and aligned with the Audubon Society. That makes two anti groups they are associated with!

Got my quarterly "Overseas Veteran" the other day, which is the VFW's Michigan magazine.  I was surprised, but pleased, to find this picture and article in the publication.

You might also be interested in this YouTube video of the slide show assembled from photos taken during our September 7th event. As has been said many times already, a great big thank you to everyone who participated at all levels, especially the committee that planned and organized this event, and Mylan Koski for his vision and leadership to make this happen.

Lets do it again  :usa:
