Lunch will be served to all at 1230pm. The Elks Club 405 will be providing the food. Bait, and tackle provided free of charge. Fishing rods will be provided to any child that's needs one to fish with and take home with them. There will also be a raffle drawing for SSFA clothes and gift certificates to local establishments. Its a great opportunity to get your kids outdoors and learn the sport of fishing completely free of charge. Event goes on rain or shine.

Trying to get an early start on the pile of work this event entails. Sunday September 10th this year. Please respond to this post or PM me if your interested in helping out. If you haven't done it in the past its the best fishing based event of the year. Fishing starts around 730am. Boat parade to follow fishing around 1pm. Pig roast after parade. We've got over 30 applications already and the due date isn't till July 15th. Thank you in advance to the captain's that volunteer their time and resources to this great event.

The whetstone brook is much cleaner and happier after taking Over 220lbs of garage from the banks and the stream itself. A huge thanks to all that came out and helped! Thanks to Kenny Ohman at North Country Disposal for disposing of the trash and Superior Collision for the use of their parking lot. We feel the event was a success. Thanks again

According to mi dnr handbook. One is allowed to posssess up to his/her daily possession limit and up to 2 days with of prior caught fish as long as the prior caught fish are processed in some manner (cleaned, smoked, canned, frozen etc). How often a CO will check your freezer is unknown. But stocking your freezer with mi caught fish is technically illegal. A law that rarely gets attention but a law none the less.

We will meet at Superior Collision on baraga street in Marquette at 10am. Coffee, hot chocolate, doughnuts, plastic gloves, and garbage bags will be provided. This is a family oriented event with all welcome to attend.  Hope to see you there.

Someone11, If your not "allowed" to work these tournaments, why was Becky your co worker working at the munising tournament on Sunday? Was she going against her bosses wishes? I doubt it.  And for the record, there are many "0's" as you call them at tournaments also.

Its your choice to come to the tournaments and read the spreadsheets. If you don't like it, don't come or don't read them.

Not sure if this is your first go around with the spring shootout or what. But this tournament is very very informal and held for our member for the most part. Our fall tournament is much bigger, more money, more participation etc. Most guys are only a few trips into the season while fishing the first tournament of the year. If you were there you'd have noticed it was Kenny and myself weighing fish, entering spreadsheet, data and announcing. We had a couple extra hands on the side selling stuff but got the most part it was two of us. I don't think you actually understand that these things take a tremendous amount of work. Oh by the way there are openings on our board and committees. Come on out and lend a hand. I'll let you separate species.  :kick:

Nope. It's enough work doing it like it is.

Another shootout is in the books. Great weather, fishing, and friends! Thanks to all that participated and congrats to the winners! Attached are full results.  I apologies in advance if your weights are incorrect. The spreadsheet got messed up at the end. Hope everyone had fun! See you next time!
