Hunting / Trapping / RingNecks!!!!
« on: November 06, 2008, 03:32:58 PM »
Spent last week in Ontario and had our slowest trip up there yet. Warm weather didn't help our efforts either. However, Spent the past few days  in South Dakota pheasant hunting for the first time. UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!!!!!! We shot over 100 roosters and saw thousands of birds. What a blast. If you ever have the opportunity to pheasant hunt the plains states it is a must.  Funnest hunting I've ever done. Bring LOTS of shells!

Lake Michigan / LIVE FROM FAIRPORT
« on: June 23, 2008, 11:31:47 AM »
Upangler is wireless from Fairport marina. Fishing is getting better everyday. Started out slow with two ten pounders Sat. night. Sunday got a little better going 5 for 7, all between 10 and 12 lbs. This morning we went 5 for 6, again 10 to 12 lbs with a 6lber mixed in. Lead Core was the ticket yesterday, but no hits on it today. SWR on the rigger took 4 fish, Slide diver with flasher fly took the other two. Water temps haved warmed to 50 degrees, 40ft down. Nice and quite here now. Time for a Nap!
P.S.- Will try some pics later.

DeTour State Harbor Hosting Fishing Tackle Swap Meet on June 8

DeTour State Harbor will host its second annual Fishing Tackle Swap Meet on June 8 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., according to the Department of Natural Resources.

This is another chance to GO-Get Outdoors and enjoy Michigans great outdoors. Anyone interested in selling old or new fishing tackle, or just wanting to display fishing rods, reels, spears, old licenses, decoys, patches, photos, artwork or anything else fishing-related, can contact Jim Hooker at 906-293-5131 ext. 4021 to reserve a space. Bring your own canopies and/or tables to set up in the marina parking lot.

Newberrys own decoy carver Carl Christiansen and other well known carvers will be on hand whittling their spearing decoys and will have some for sale. Restaurants and lodging are nearby. Coffee and doughnuts will be provided.

This event coincides with Michigans Free Fishing Weekend. On Saturday and Sunday, June 7 and 8, fishing licenses will not be required, but all other fishing regulations will apply. The DeTour Atlantic X Salmon Fishing Derby is going to be held on June 7 as well.

Call Jim Hooker at 906-293-5131 ext. 4021 for more information about this event. Questions about the fishing derby should be directed to Gary Dudeck at 906-297-2400. DeTour State Harbor is located at 600 N. Ontario in DeTour Village

Now, That I got everyones attention.  Does anyone know anything I don't about TJ's Cabins? Been calling for over a month and can't get a hold of them. Never had a problem in the past and still get their answering machine, but seems to be no one around. Just curious if anybody knows anything. Thanks, Jeff
