Lake Superior / Re: Speaking of the fall SSFA tourney
« on: January 24, 2015, 12:23:14 PM »
Sounds like a fantastic idea, Mike!  We touched on it at our 1st meeting the other night.  I personally like the Friday morning idea just like they do in the Tournament Trail events.  I think that TT plan came originally from the mentality that "we're pre-fishing anyway, we should bring the wife and kids along and make an event out of it".  It has caught on at most Tournament Trail event locations now!  Keeping it simple is certainly the key, 3 fish or 5 fish total weight, etc.  Hope to see you at the next meeting so we can discuss in more detail!  You can absolutley count on us (Finn Tackle) for some prizes/donations, too!
My crew will be in for sure…  :thmb:

Nice. I hope you find it.

With all the trailering we do it is a little bigger than I would like, especially with the wide beam.  Want to see one first and it has to be exactly what I want before anything happens. The one have now is set up the way I want it so I am not in any hurry.
You also manage to catch a few fish in your current boat, too!  :thmb:

I know that model very well, Ryan.  My search was down to the GW 265 and the Tiara 2700 when I bought my current boat.  I just couldn't find a GW 265 within my budget and a reasonable distance from the UP.  Great boat, I've been doing some 265 searches recently just to see what's on the market these days!  Some of them are testing my will power.  ;D

Have you compared fuel burn rate between the two? I am thinking the difference is huge.

I don't remember exactly but I think the GW got about twice as good of mileage.  The GW's initial cost was twice (almost 3 times with 05 & 06 models) as much at the time too. I also considered the cost of possibly future engine replacement on both models.  The 265 is a great boat!

Blake is there a reason you're going with popple over cedar? Hard to beat that cedar smell when you open the door for the first time. cheesy()

Chad,
Quite a few people use poplar for the benches...cedar everywhere else, of course.  ;D
