Trout/Salmon / Re: Fish Taxidermist Suggestions

Ship it over to Northland Taxidermy here on the east end. He's won national competitions,  I've never been the slightest disapointed with a mount from here. He's done every mount in my house.

Unfortunately, Randy lives in Washington State now, and is no longer doing mounts.

I heard USCG Sector Sault on the VHF yesterday afternoon sending out "B.O.L.'s"  talking about an "issue" off of Presque Isle.  They had 3 boats over near the North end of the island when we ran by.   Unfortunately, until a lifejacket with a body still in it is found in a gill net, nothing will change.

Great idea! :thmb:  That's always been the number one suggestion is to have it when there is something for "the rest of the family" to do.  This seems perfect.  Should draw a lot of non-fisherman from the Harbor Fest as well to see what's going on.  This is the weekend that it was was for MANY years.  Good to see it moved back. I'm sure you'll have a few who will complain for the sake of complaining...but IMO, great call!

The parking lot will be empty at 5 am, so parking won't be an issue then...

Awesome video!
I dream about fishing there on a day that calm.

You'd think we would eventually catch a break for your trip, eh?!  Hopefully I can get you there one of these days!  But your luck with Mother Nature seems about as good as mine...

Save your time and gas and skip the Chocolay. Head East!  The harbors suck right now...

The last few trips we haven't set a line deeper than 40', and we haven't fished deeper than 50' of water.  Lakers are hitting in the top 25'.

Congrats on the friggin HUGE box!!  :thmb:

Is this tourney always the same weekend at the end of June?  Is it expected to be the last weekend in June again next year??

Some of us have to make plans a year in advance    Stopped by the weigh in this year for a while on Saturday.  Lots of people having lots of fun!  Family's/kids/wives everywhere.  BBQ's going, fish fryers going, ect....  All the people at the stores in town and the bar were all talking up the fisherman and praising the tourney.  VERY cool to see a community really get behind an event like that!  Munising looks to have the same thing going!  That dosnt happen everywhere... :kick:

Lake Superior / Re: Lower harbor fish cleaning station
« on: June 28, 2014, 12:18:34 PM »
It's still locked up tight as of this morning.  A city worker down there confirmed they pulled almost a whole 5 gallon bucket of skins from the grinder 2 weeks ago.  He believes after it was jammed up by skins, (mostly Bass), that someone else probably broke the switch trying to get it to come on.

Asked around a bit, but nobody seemed to be able to open it, or know who could. It's not the same key that I've always used to unlock it.  There's about a 10' deep "reef" of fish carcasses forming near the station in shallow water.  They better get it opened up quick!

I'm even more amazed at how many boats go out into the fog with no Radar.  Are they just hoping someone with radar sees them first?  If you're in a boat with no radar, you have no business being out in the fog.  The same people also have no idea what a "fog signal" is,  then walk around on shore asking why people are "beeping their horns" on the water....
