2017 fish photo contest
« on: January 03, 2017, 12:48:19 PM »

Well, it's a new year, so time to start our annual icefishing photo contest.

Rules are simple. Fish must be taken on hook and line, anywhere in the U.P. Stop by the baitshop, or email us a picture of you and your catch, (baitshop2@chartermi.net) Pics must include the angler with their fish. One entry per person, per day. Each weekly contest will run Wednesday through Tuesday. One name will be drawn randomly each week for a $20 gift certificate to the baitshop.

This years first entry is from Mick and his daughter Harper. She's had some good luck with the walleyes so far. She got a 28 inch, 8 pound walleye on New Year's Eve, and some nice eaters on Monday. Way to go, Harper!

Scott sent a couple pictures of his boys. His email read - Perching was good over weekend. Got a nice mess of them. Here's couple of biggest. Also lost one true giant when hook caught on ice. First is Taylor with a 13.5 inch. 2nd is Levi with a 13 inch.

Zach sent in a picture of a nice 25 inch walleye he caught a couple weeks ago on the bay. A little late for this weeks contest, but hey, we all like looking at fish pictures, right?

Got a nameless email with a perch pic. Email read - Hey Chris here's a nice batch of perch caught Monday in Kipling using small moonshine jigs

Made one little tweak to the contest rules. Contest will run Wednesday through Tuesday, so that people that fished the weekend have time to get home and send in their pics. There will be a couple extra days added to this weeks contest, due to this change.

Anyway, here are a couple more entries from over the weekend.

Quinn got some nice perch fishing the upper part of LBDN

Joe released a beautiful 31 inch walleye that he caught on a tip-up, south of Gladstone.

Dan caught a huge 45 inch pike off of the Terrace this past weekend. He said it had an 18 inch girth. Talk about a true gator!
