Ive got a Lowrance too and I did the same thing with the soft cooler many years ago.

My cooler is a little larger to accomodate the battery so I could keep it  warm should it become an issue,
and the soft material does provide great protection.

I started out using slush on the cable to hold the transducer in place until I found something better.  I never did.

Investment =
Rummage sale cooler $1.00
Battery = already had it.
Slush = $0.00

The battery also fits in this cooler. And i usedd a suction cup on the transducer with a piece of plastic screwed to an old wood tip up attach and drop in the hole works pretty good and easy to set angle of transducer.

Not saying I would ever do it, but if somebody gets too close, turn her up on the wide frequency.  You will hear sniveling, of course, not that I ever did.

The materials I used may not be readily available to all.  The box is made of teflon wear plate from coal chute linings.  The SS angle bracket and rod were cast offs from a job.  Substitutes and ingenuity are required.
