Gander Mountain Bankruptcy
« on: February 11, 2017, 02:38:30 PM »

If Gander Mountain is to survive this bankruptcy, they're going to have to make some major changes in the way they do business. Would sure hate to see us lose our store.

There are a lot of great local outfitters in the UP. Gander never has what you need for UP waters anyway and they only have one employee who has ever been fishing. Also when gander runs out of stuff, they are out. They dont go an order more just because you the customer want to buy it.

I for one do not want Gander going fizzle end up because I don't travel all over the UP looking for jigs or paying S&H for a few jigs or whatever. Maybe if it was your job on the line Teggs you wouldn't have such a smarts answer eh?

Retail is a dying business and Gander was slow to adopt the online game. Great store and great people there. Always a great selection of items and a fun spot to visit when in MQT.

I hope they can make it.  Personally love the store.  Good quality products.

Saw a sign along side a street in Marq. saying MC Sports was having a closeout sale, 30% off everything.

Yup, mc sports is going under. Looks like gander is in trouble. Stopped at wilderness and prices went up BIG TIME. Asked the young fella what was going on. I got the classic answer. We are it. We will be the last gun shop around. We will get our price because you have no place else to go. Told them exactly what to kiss and what to do to themselves and left.will just have to make a list and go to green bay a couple times a year. Also Jays in powers. She has reloading stuff. I really hope gander don't go under.  Steve

I'm not familiar with Dick's, but from what I've seen through the years, Dunham's means low quality and prices that can be very high. (If they stocked one pice of hunting and fishing gear for every tee shirt and hoodie in the store, they'd have quite a selection.)

Great point!!!

Bass Pro Shop's acquisition of Cabela's apparently is going to fall through as well...someone in the Morris clan is finally looking at the market segment trends and questioning the rationale of a takeover that is so highly leveraged.

Ill sure miss them if they leave.

There is one there however who could start his own shop and beat them all
