2nd Annual Big Brothers / Big Sisters Fishing Tournament
« on: July 29, 2009, 04:55:06 PM »

2nd Annual Marquette Big Brothers / Big Sisters Fishing Tournament

The date has been set for the tournament.  We are looking for people to volunteer their vessel and time to help make this another successful tournament.  If willing, you will be responsible for taking one big/little combo out for a morning of fishing.  Last year we had 14 boats and 14 kids out for the day.  It was a little rough but everyone had a great time.  We gave prizes to the top 3 catches and every kid received a rod/reel combo, a small tackle box with some lures, a $25 gift certificate to Gander Mountain and some great prizes from The Window Store / ABC Seamless.

This year will again be co-sponsored by South Shore Fishing Association and The Window Store.  We don’t have the exact number of boats needed but are expecting a larger turnout than last year.

Details:

Date: Saturday August 22, 2009 (Back up day for bad weather Sunday August 23rd)

Time:  Captains Show up at 7:45 a.m. kids show up at 8:00 am.  Fish till noon.  Awards and picnic to follow.

Where:  Morning meeting place will be at Marquette Dock Association parking lot.  (Parking lot on south side of Thills fish house.)  Awards and picnic will be at Lower Harbor Park (near playground).  Bring your catch to the picnic area for official weigh in.

Please go to upangler.com forums under the South Shore page to post questions or volunteer.  I will keep an updated list of boats on there and post any additional information.

Thanks for your help,
Jim Kelly

FOR ANY CAPTAIN OUT THERE ON THE FENCE ABOUT THIS "FUN" TOURNEY IT IS WELL WORTH THE TIME AND EFFORT - WE FISHED THIS LAST YEAR AND HAD AN ABSOLUTE BLAST - THESE KIDS ARE REAL TROOPERS AND LOVED EVERY MINUTE OF THE DAY.  SO IF YOU HAVE A BOAT AND ARE LOOKING FOR A GOOD DAY ON THE WATER WITH FRIENDS COME ON OUT AND JOIN US!!!!!!

We have postponed the tournament until tomorrow (sunday).  It will be the same format just a day later.

NOAA is calling for less than 1 foot.  I don't know if the big lake can calm down that fast but keep your fingers crossed.

Thanks to all of our understanding captains!
