Big Jon counter issues...
« on: July 08, 2017, 12:12:57 AM »

Hello Friends-

I am continually frustrated with how inaccurate my counters are on my Big Jon electrics.  Often they are 15-20 feet off at 70-80 down.  I zero them each time.  I have replaced the springs.  I have tried rubber O rings.  Does anyone else have this issue, and have you found the cause/resolution? (Other than buying Cannons!??)

Thanks
Brian

Try measuring out 70 ft set the counter to match 70 then dont worry when it goes backward around 0 to 990 or 980 to start. The rest could be several reasons from much more or less cable changing spool size this ratio to counter etc..

When we used big johns the counter was more for repeat performance . With blow back etc its not exact  ( food for thought) :thmb:

I have had the same issue with my old walkers, we eventually just adjusted the sonar so we could see what depth they were running at.
