Lake Michigan Chinook-Muskegon 41.48lbs

I had to chuckle when I found that Jay Wesley was the one who posted this on a Michigan based website.  I like to walk on sand...not real fond of being asked to drink it!  The MDNR can't even claim Lake Michigan is becoming a big fish destination like Lake Ontario, since the catch rate data have fallen so low

IF you want to remove the otoliths to age a fish... An oil of wintergreen soak will clear them enough to "read" against a black background with a good overhead light source.

When I was working on a Burbot age and growth study. I made a sagittal cut (long axis) down the midline and split the brain case open; far easier to tease them out of the two "pockets on either side.
