Wife's best weekend
« on: November 08, 2017, 03:12:08 PM »

Well my bride can't bitch about her FREE guide service anymore.  On Sunday I sat her in her tree and I slid into my ground blind to watch.  About 4 pm a doe came along and this little 8 point followed.   Grunting as he came in.
Well, I thought as he stepped out to take his pic.  Note to self.  Make sure flash is off on your phone!  He froze just out of bow range for my wife.  But luckily he had love on his mind and followed the doe past my wife.
He never noticed that she drew back on him 3 times till he stood still long enough for her to make a great shot.
This is her best buck yet.  She gets buck fever so bad that after she shot I could hear her in the ground blind breathing so hard.
I get more enjoyment taking her hunting than shooting one myself.
Then to top things off.  Her MSU Spartans won.  Then she went to Lambeau all decked out in her Lions gear (No comment here I need a bed to sleep in) and watched her Lions win.

Photo just before she stuck him.  Clean pass through. She only pulls 40 lbs.

Great story, Congrats to you both. I clearly remember my wife's first deer, heard the shot, and she could barely talk into the walkie talkie that she had one down. Fun times

Way to go Ma'am. Good to see you reaping some reward for all that buck fever excitement. Best legal buzz made.  :thmb:

Congrats to your bride - that's quite a weekend!    Plenty of steaks and burgers there.

Goes to show that you sure don't need to draw 70 lbs to kill deer.   What broadhead does she shoot?

Wife says thanks for all the congrats.
Can you tell she picked out her own broadheads?  Didn't know deer were picky about what color broadhead they get shot with.

I shot this guy yesterday about 3pm in Sagola.  That was the 5th buck I seen yesterday.  Did see one dandy that gave me a broadside shot at 40 yards.  But I passed hoping for closer.  Didn't work out, but I know I made the right choice.
Lots of grunts and small bucks dogging the does.

Gotta watch for the pure meat and tag hunters. Others states are becoming keen to "pushing the envelope" since back where they live they have to deal with the pumpkin armies. It's all tit for tat. If you don't shoot those deer, someone else gladly will, just make sure  you know how to tag a deer based off legal rack points because that's not a legal 8 by any MI laws.

Wife's good fortune continues.  She is officially tagged out.  She got this guy about 7:30 am.
After she shot.  She couldn't hear.  (She confiscated my 7 Weatherby Mag that has a muzzle break on it)  and just kept repeating "did I get him"  louder and louder. While hyperventilating.   Proud of my wife.

Oh and Al.  That is a 10 point.  Couldn't be happier with the package.  Turbo XLT.
Got it from Lena Swamp Archery.  It was a left over model.  3rd Ten Point I've had.  All great.  I first got my crossbow permit in 2001.  Bought a Horton.   Was ok.  Next Horton was sent back to the factory twice.
I believe Horton went belly up and Ten Point brought them back..
If anybody gets a Ten Point with built in cocking aid and notices it's noisy against the stock.  Just send a message and I'll try to show how I made mine a little better.
