This is the year for a new weapon. Before I bite the bullet, figured I throw it out there to see if anyone's upgrading. I remember one or two posted last fall. Eyeballin' a new Mathews, or Hoyt........but have no loyalty.

Jeff, I just bought the Mathews Z7. I shot a few different brands before buying it and liked it the best. It has to be the smoothest bow ive shot. Hopefully this guy is the first to go down from it.

I bought a new Hoyt Catera XL last year, and now they came out with another new one that I like even better. Oh well. Anyway Jeff, I am on my 5th Hoyt and I have been very happy with all of them. If you want to shoot mine you are more than welcome. That is another plus about the Hoyt, Draw lengths can be adjusted +/- 1.5" most models. Realy a nice feature come resale time

I bought a Mathews about seven years ago. And it still puts an arrow through a deer as well as any new bow on the market. Thing is so quiet, I shot an eight and his buddy a six never got spooked. For the price of those bows, it better last me a lifetime. Which should be easy, considering how much I have not used it the last couple of years. But I do not think you could go wrong either way.

Both the Z7 and Maxxis are impressive.....as well as the price tags. Been using the "Mine still kills deer" line for quite awhile now. Time to suck it up I guess.

Get what YOU like the best! Both brands are high quality. My opinion...NOTHING beats a Matthews. Anybody that has any doubt.... shoot them side by side. There will be no doubt after that. Dont take somebodys word for it. The "adjustability" of the Hoyt cams is also a downfall of its design that can lead to its inconsistancy. Give me a Solocam anyday! Most guys who "like" their Hoyt, havn't shot a Matthews in a while Either way, as long as your a Bowhunter, thats all that matters!

Haven't shot a Mathews in awhile.........I'd love too, but hell, I haven't shot MY own Hoyt in 3 years. Between work and kids I haven't bow hunted since 2006.

I suspect there may be some clearance issues with the string. When she trips that release, it may get interesting.

I wasn't going to say anything but here it goes. I know they are not popular around here but I purchased a Bowtech 3 years ago. I shot hoyt, mathews and bowtech and not one of them were above the other. What i liked about bowtech was the bianary cam system, which elimates the hump you feel when drawing back. Thats why i chose bowtech, love it and will buy another next year. Price wise they are all pretty much the same. rob

Last year I bought a new PSE X Force Omen. It is a superfast bow and shoots great. My recommendation is to go see Shelley and Randall at Straight Line Archery in Ishpeming. They have matthews, hoyt and pse. Shoot them all and see what one feels best to you. I used to be a strictly hoyt man but the new PSE are some sweet bows. Main thing is get the bow set up right. Most people out there are shooting too long of a draw length. Just my 2 cents.

Just put $100 down on a pse xforce vendetta xs last week. shot it and also a hoyt that was 100 more in price and found that the pse shot way better than that particle hoyt model. not to say pse is better than any other brand. got to shoot a z7 the other day and it was the smoothest bow ive ever shot bar none. just cant afford that $900 bow only price tag. went with the vendetta because it is only 2 fps slower and probably the second smoothest bow i have ever shot and just couldnt beat the $800 complete package price.
