Fished one day off the big dropoff and yep, there's still lake trout up there. We left our campsite a day early to beat the storm...glad we did...

With stacked lines on both riggers most fish were coming off the bottom, which incidentally had swr's on them from salmon fishing. Trying to run them as close to the bottom as possible. Monkey puke was good. We fished later in the morning and fished up to 210', which incidentally was the maximum amount of downrigger wire I have on both riggers. With blowback I'm guessing we were not at 200' with the weights, but with the swr's on the rigger weight release, were down there somewhere.

Kyle, it's not too much of a science up there. Go due north 5 miles from the peirheads. On your GPs it will probably show as the edge of the shipping channel. It drops from 90-250 feet very steep. Fish the bottom. I like to go almost straight up and down the slope (North and South). You move your cannon balls alot, but it seems to be the best fishing. Check your lures regularly, the small fish will jsut drag alot of the time. I probably caught 100-150 fish there last year. Only two over 5 pounds. Good eating leans and lots of action. I'll be heading up there once 'Stique slows down. Anything in white seems to be best for me.

I've heard that too, never mad that run though. I would def. need a running mate for that.
