Had a great trip, fishing was good, slow, or somewhere in between. Our last day on the water was our best, 8 or 9 fish between AM and afternoon trips, but very good size. Most were 13-17 1/2 (our biggest), only 2 at 5# or so. We had quite a few others in the 12-14# range during the trip, but not a ton, lots of 5-7#. Lost one day to wind, lost one morning to Schnapps. Not great numbers, got fish every time out, but because of an eye condition I am pretty much limited to daylight hours, no pre-dawn or late night fishing. Plus we're kind of lazy. Most of our fish, and almost all of the bigger ones came from out of temp waters. Got lucky on a shallow water experiment, and stayed with it. 100-120', 110 being the best, from Summer to Poverty. Not many marks, but nice little bait pods on the bottom. Temps were high 50's-61 near bottom, some pockets of colder water mixed in. LuLu and Dick say we specialize in fishing for dumb fish, biting in the middle of the day in the wrong water. Guilty as charged. Meat rigs off dipseys and riggers worked pretty good, glow purple spoons, Bishes Bruiser, Rickety Ranger (I think), caught a few with Mike Paludas EyeFlies, looking forward to using them more next season. Even caught a few big dumb-asses on copper, way out of their temp.
As usual, Fairport was just cool, hard core fishing, great folks, incredible resource. We are lucky to have it in our backyards.

Forgot to mention that this was about the 5th August trip for me and ole' Lonesome Dave Mattson. We play well together and he is a great partner. DAVE ? Dave's not here.

Yes, Frank, like you, I have come to count on Lulu's captain as the source or all that is true and valid in the Universe!!! That is why I am typing this in crayon. Where I currently am housed they won't let me use anything sharp!
