Looks like the weather is not going to help out. How soon will the S.S.F.A. cancel Saturdays tourney and move it to Sunday? At the captians meeting or Saturday morning?

I don't see the tourney being moved to Sunday because of rain, SSE winds and waves of 2ft or less.

The tourney would only be moved because of a Small Craft Warning being posted, which would be announced at the Captains Meeting on Friday.

From the looks of it now, it looks wet, but not rough.  Offshore winds from the SSE at 10-20  waves 1-2 feet.  Rain definatly looks probable, but that never hurt fishin any.....the fish are already wet!  wink()  May not be bright and sunny, but the last few bright and sunny days out there have sucked!  Maybe a few dark and cloudy days are what we need.

Good Luck!

PS....This will be discussed at the Captains Meeting.......but the weigh-in will be held on the Marquette Fish Dock this year, instead of the Harbor Wall.  Due to the citys overwhelming responce to make it hard on us to have it in lower harbor, and the fact they just flat out dont want to help promote fishing in the area, doing it in Lower Harbor just isnt feasable anymore.  A Canoe race, a bike race, a hippi music fest, a Dog-walk-a-thon.....all no problem.  But if your a fisherman in this town, you take a back seat to everything else.  Same old story.

Thanks to the members of the Marquette Fish Dock for letting us use the facility(Completely FREE of Charge!).  It will make the weigh in much easier, as the Live release boats will go to one side of the dock, while the dead fish will go to the other.  This should make it easier on everyone coming in at the end of the day.

How about the 70% chance of thunderstorms Saturday morning ? I don't feel much like being used as a lightning rod ! Will they delay if there is storms over the area ?

A small craft warning will delay the Tourney....Nothing else.  Fishing is great in thunderstorms, just dont be the tallest boat on the water.  wink()

Well i guess the seagulls will be happy... Nothin like realeasing a bunch of manhandled salmon with no scales left.... huh()
I have volunteered at the dock and we did not put any dead fish back the lake, if you help out at the weigh in station you could see how it all works, then it would be easier for you to make good suggestions. The South Shore Association runs the tourny very well.
