On a good year I have some great spots.....its just a matter of having a good year with right timing and conditions.  Last year my area popped way to early and ended up being stunted little ones that are really hard to find.   I had 3 good years in a row before that in the same area where I could find 50+ each trip!   Very complex mushrooms the are

I was doing better and better each year and was up to 12-18, when I crashed and got none last year.

Although on google earth I was tracking down some duck ponds and drove in to some unfamiliar country to find those ponds and got a little lost for a bit, but happened on some very good looking "morel country" filled with old beech with dead blowdowns of beech of varying ages.

So Im looking forward to it again this year. Problem always is the fishing gets good too.

I think it really depends on the weather and timing.I've had years where I've got thousands and also had years where I found only a couple.

I have never eaten at the Chophouse. How is it and what can I expect to shell out for a romantic dinner with the wife?

A hundred dollar bill for you and the wife but worth every penny if u ask me!  Unreal prime rib! The service is great too!     U even get a "fresh cracked pepper" person too!

Arn's assessment is pretty accurate. We last ate there around Christmas with a group of friends. They were featuring a rustic rabbit with cracked black pepper biscuits. I ordered it-very good. I like food that "fights back" though, so some would say it was too hot and spicy. I asked Tommy for a rundown on the recipe. He said his sous chef developed it and ran through the ingredients quickly for me. Sure sounded familiar to me. Oddly enough it was an Emeril Legasse recipe with sage added to the spice rub medley that was applied to the rabbit. I have made it three times since then via the Emeril recipe-identical taste! If you make it, I would recommend a blend of crimini and shitake mushrooms. Very good biscuit recipe for venison camp stew!

It's gonna put the hurt on your wallet, but it is some of the best food and service I have ever witnessed.
