Tough day on the big pond yesterday.
« on: July 30, 2015, 06:38:43 AM »

Large ferry, small boat, swimmer, paddle boater, all finding out that lake can be tough.
I just have to keep all that in my mind, in hopes of never losing respect for the power of the Great Lakes.

Not sure if it's the one you're referencing or not, but a kite boarder died up here at mcclain yesterday after getting knocked out by the pole. Makes me think a little bit, he was within swimming distance from shore and most likely in a wet suit.  I'm usually miles from shore in shorts and a t-shirt in a boat. If the boat were removed from the equation and I don't get time to get a life jacket, it's over quick. Not that I would be crazy enough to be on the water yesterday, but a lot of stuff can sure happen. Lake superior is not a toy.

edit: Just read about the 14' boat out of big traverse yesterday that overturned. I don't know what kind of an idiot it takes to take a 14' boat out yesterday.

The same kind that take kayaks out on the big lake and don't know to right themselves Probably take a knife to a gun fight.
