Walleye tournament in escanaba this weekend
« on: May 20, 2016, 10:03:33 AM »

Has anyone heard how the pro's have been doing pre-fishing?
I can't understand why the tournament would come to town the week of the walleye opener, i thought it was usually mid summer to get people in town. Maybe this was the only time the circuit could make it schedule wise?
Just seems like an odd time.

We fished Bays de Noc from Sunday until Friday.  It was tough.  Many guys including myself were having a difficult time putting a decent bite together.  I did watch part of the weigh-ins on Thursday and Friday.  Many tournament guys didn't weigh a fish and very few put five fish on the board.  On Thursday and Friday, it took a ten pound fish to win the big fish of the day category.  I think most of the guys winning we're putting some serious miles on their boat and ended up toward Menominee.  One guy said he was putting 120 miles on a day, running almost 50 miles one way.  Most of them were grumbling about the rough seas on Thursday.  Here is the link to the results. http://walleyefederation.com/cabelas-ntc/

The Fisheries Iin bay de noc is in serious trouble. It is time to quit candy coating the situation. Once again mismanagement and under management Is taking its toll

Wow! 2 Ranger boats and $25 grand for a few small Walleye. WTH? Winning a Trout and Salmon tournament just covers the cost of fishing in the tournament.

Noticed quite a few guys are from Wisconsin and Ohio.  Why is that.   Just a curious observation.

NTC is the National Team Championship. Stands to reason that closer states would have more people fishing than far away states. Still, we had teams from Texas, Oklahoma, and Maryland stop in, (I think they said they had fishermen from 23 states and Canada.)

If I want to meet anyone from Ohio, I simply go grouse hunting the first week of the season.
